Meeting of the Marques
Another great weather day for a car show on Saturday Sept. 28. RRF exhibited 6 cars at the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Marques (British cars) in conjunction with a street fair and juried art show in downtown Carlisle. We were positioned across the way from the main entrance to Dickinson, and it was their homecoming/ parent’s weekend/ new college president’s inauguration day. Thus we had a great cross section of local and out of town folks coming by to see the cars.
RRF cars and drivers were:
Silver Wraith driven by Jeff Truhan
Bentley Mark VI driven by John Ingram
Silver Cloud I driven by Mike Ruggles
Bentley T2 driven by Gordon Vincent
We’d like to recognize Gordon, who is a newer member and joining us for his first event with Friends of the Foundation. Gordon has a particular interest in and knowledge of modern cars and made sure that those who ambled by the T2 got a proper appreciation of the RR V8. And we can’t say this enough – the Silver Wraith and Mark VI are running reliably and able to go to these shows due to the leading efforts of Harry Crook, who is now working magic on the PI and 20/25. With Jim and Kelby’s attention to the newer Shadow donations, we are swimming in drivable cars.
Bookending our street display was Denny Dilger with his Silver Cloud II and Kelby Steele brought his 1968 Silver Shadow Mulliner Park Ward Drophead Coupe (not a Corniche, for those of you scoring at home). Many thanks to Kelby for organizing our participation in this event. I just rode along.
